How it works
The working principle of the device is an open circuit potential (OCP). The system uses high-precision Analog-to-digital (A/D) converters to measure electrical signals from cells used as biorecognition elements, enabling high-performance control, parallel measurements, wireless transmissions, and high-speed testing.
The B.EL.D™ can also be used as a stand-alone system -without the need to use cells as biorecognition elements- for numerous environmental or chemical applications according to the potentiometry principle.

The device can measure real-time changes in the electrical properties of cells (up to eight simultaneous measurements) from eight carbon-screen printed electrodes (working electrode: carbon/gold, reference: Ag / AgCl) to a disposable sensor strip.
The system connects via Bluetooth to a smartphone, thus allowing the end–user to be informed immediately of any analysis result.
TVC (Total Viable Count) – for rapid microbial detection in surface samples.
GAC (Granular Activated Carbon) – for evaluating the activation of granular activated carbon.
