Bioelectric Diagnostics
Potentiometric biosensors are developed by combining a biorecognition element (enzyme, bacteria, mammalian cells, antibodies) to an electrochemical potential transducer.
The analytical signal generated by a potentiometric biosensor is an electrical potential capable to measure from B.EL.D™ device.
The B.EL.D™ can also be used as a stand-alone system -without the need to use cells as biorecognition elements- for numerous environmental or chemical applications according to the potentiometry principle.
Real-time results
The device can measure real-time changes in the electrical properties of cells (up to eight simultaneous measurements) from eight carbon-screen printed electrodes (working electrode: carbon/gold, reference: Ag / AgCl) to a disposable sensor strip.
The system connects via Bluetooth to a smartphone, thus allowing the end–user to be informed immediately of any analysis result.
B.EL.D™ applications:
TVC (Total Viable Count) – for rapid microbial detection in surface samples.
GAC (Granular Activated Carbon) – for evaluating the activation of granular activated carbon.
Listeria monocytogenes detection – for identification of L. Monocytogenes and other pathogens in food samples.
Ballast Water – periodically spot-checking of ballast water while at sea. Developed under requirements of the IMO D-2 standard.
Research and Academia applications according to the potentiometry principle.
