The CONQUAIR project (ICT Applications to CONquer Optimal QUality of AIR in Long-Term Care Settings) is an innovative initiative designed to revolutionize air quality management in healthcare environments. Launched in September 2024, this two-year project is a collaborative effort between EMBIO Diagnostics (coordinator), the University of Florence, Class Srl (Italy), and Resysten Kft (Hungary). Proudly sponsored by ‘Eureka-Eurostars,’ and Research Innovation Foundation (RIF) (EP/EUROSTARS-3/0324/0010), CONQUAIR is focused on developing advanced Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions to optimize air quality in long-term care facilities, addressing a critical challenge in modern healthcare and aligning with the RIS3 agenda.
Our Mission
The CONQUAIR project is driven by the urgent need to improve indoor air quality in healthcare settings, particularly in long-term care facilities where vulnerable populations are at heightened risk. Our mission is to create a comprehensive solution that not only monitors air quality but also empowers healthcare providers with the tools and knowledge to act swiftly and effectively to protect both patients and staff.
Our Primary Objectives are to
Ensure Continuous Real-Time Monitoring
Our solution facilitates continuous real-time monitoring of air microclimate parameters, focusing on conditions that could foster the transmission of airborne pathogens. By providing precise and up-to-date data, we aim to significantly reduce the risks associated with poor air quality.
Enhance Decision-Making for Healthcare Facilities
We are committed to supporting healthcare facilities in making informed decisions to optimize indoor air quality. Our system provides actionable insights that enhance the overall health and safety of both patients and healthcare workers, ensuring a healthier environment for all.
Offer User-Centric Decision Support System
The project delivers an end-user-adapted decision support system to mitigate risk events and prevent the transmission of airborne illnesses through air and surfaces.
What CONQUAIR Platform Offers?
The CONQUAIR consortium has designed an integrated digital platform to support healthcare facilities in monitoring IAQ, assessing environmental microbiological risks, and improving environmental safety management. The platform combines intuitive visualisation of air quality data, customisable IAQ alerts, centralised management of surface swab results, and a dedicated surface coating registry. Advanced data analytics enable the exploration of relationships between air quality events, environmental conditions, surface contamination patterns, and the outcomes of mitigation measures.
Additional functionalities, including structured incident reporting and an AI-powered advisory assistant, support risk assessment, facilitate informed decision-making, and help healthcare professionals and facility managers respond more effectively to potential environmental hazards.
