CRaFTC (Cyprus Reheolgy and Fluidics Technology Centre), funded by the Research and Innovation Foundation of Cyprus (RIF) under its Strategic Infrastructure program, launched at the beginning of 2024 and is set to span 2.5 years. Spearheaded by Cyprus University of Technology, this project aims to establish a pioneering research center dedicated to the advancement of rheology and fluidics technology.

Our primary objective is to create an innovative research hub that caters to the specific needs of Cyprus’ research and industrial sectors in the realm of complex fluids, fluidics, and fluidics-based applications. By collaborating with esteemed partners such as EMBIO Diagnostics and CYENS Center of Excellence, as well as enhancing existing specialized infrastructures, CRaFTC endeavors to pioneer the field of Complex Fluids Research and Innovation within Cyprus.

At the heart of CRaFTC lies the state-of-the-art Biorheology Laboratory, housed at MEMSE-CUT, equipped with cutting-edge rheological and structural characterization instruments. Our center will provide an environment conducive to collaborative problem-solving, leveraging expertise in Rheology and Fluid Mechanics Theory, Computational/Numerical Rheology, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and employing advanced technologies such as Deep Learning (DL), Machine Learning (ML), and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Consortium is committed to fostering partnerships with industrial collaborators, transforming these relationships into dynamic alliances aimed at developing a specialized complex fluids facility tailored to industry needs. Our activities will encompass securing ISO certification, establishing standards and procedures (CE etc.), formulating strategies for intellectual property protection, and devising plans to engage with societal and industrial stakeholders.
