MyTB · Proof-of-concept project
Faster TB screening, closer to where it is needed.
MyTB is a rapid diagnostic test for Mycobacterium tuberculosis under development at EMBIO Diagnostics. Built on the portable B.EL.D™ platform, it combines AI-integrated biosensor technology with a dual-biomarker approach to advance accessible point-of-care screening.
Proof-of-concept research targeting screening in under three minutes.
The concept
Bringing rapid screening closer to the point of care.
Tuberculosis continues to affect millions of people worldwide. MyTB addresses the need for faster, more accessible screening by adapting EMBIO’s Bio Electric Recognition Assay (BERA) and B.EL.D™ platform for Mycobacterium tuberculosis biomarker detection. The system is designed to capture bioelectric responses and use AI-assisted analysis to interpret the resulting signals.
Dual-biomarker sensing
MyTB evaluates complementary biomarkers to establish a screening signal.
Portable B.EL.D™ platform
The portable B.EL.D™ reader captures electrical measurements and transfers them to a connected mobile application for AI-assisted analysis.
Designed for wider access
The project’s goal is accurate, low-cost screening in under three minutes, supporting future access in regions where laboratory infrastructure may be limited.
Development focus
From biosensor concept to laboratory evidence.
The eight-month programme advances antibody-pair selection, biosensor optimization, cross-reactivity studies, electrical-signal dataset development and AI model integration. Current work is focused on laboratory proof of concept using recombinant proteins and controlled samples, rather than clinical patient samples or live M. tuberculosis. MyTB is funded by the Research and Innovation Foundation under the Proof of Concept programme (CONCEPT/0525), within the RESTART 2016–2020 framework.
